I found these images from the May 2009 issue of Vanity Fair which felt were inspiring as they showed period costume with a period setting. I think the spread is kept contemporary by the use of photography.Although I like the setting and outfits I think there is something very wrong with these photographs, I think the make-up and hair styling do not match with the rest of the look. I think its this distinguish look that makes the photographs not look quite right.
I think to overcome this they would have to have done the hair and make-up in keeping with the era and completed the look. Another option would to have brought in more contemporary components.
Despite this I do like the bright colours and sharpness of all the photography that brings apparent the mixture of patterns, materials and decorative architecture.
