Behind the scenes at Kingston Lacy Shoot!

We had the shoot yesterday and I was very fortunate with the weather which was my main concern. Despite being windy the sun was out which gave the grounds a lot of beautiful light.
We started the make-up at my house at 7am with Ilana, Elise and Emma. I provided breakfast as it was such an early start. Me and Charlotte started on hair and make-up which finished at 8.30.
I had a few concerns as Matt (the male model) had not turned up by 9.30, however I got a very apologetic phone call saying he had overslept and that he would be there as soon as possible. This set us an hour behind but I had prepared an extra two hours at the end of the shoot to compensate for delays as I have defiantly learnt that you need to be prepared for delays and problems.
I had asked my friend Jonjo to drive for us and also Elise drove which meant there was plenty of room for everyone and the equipment.
We arrived at Kingston Lacy at 11.00 am and I met Martin where I had to hand over my signed paper work to confirm I was a student from the Art Institute and also to sign some documents to say I will not be using any of my work for commercial gain or profit.Ben, Alex and Jonjo went to set up the first location whilst me and Anushka put the models into their costumes. We then started shooting at 11.30am. The first shoot took quite a while as we worked out the best positions etc but once this was sorted out the day picked up and we were able to move efficiently!
We then had lunch in the courtyard which my sister had prepared. After lunch we did the last four shoots ending with the run from the house.
Overall I think the day went really well, despite being cold everyone seemed very happy and enthusiastic. Anushka was a real help with the dressing and it was great to have Jonjo and my sister on board to help with the moving of the kit and assisting Alex and Ben.
We had packed up on time by 6pm which was my ending time of the day. It really helped having everything so planned, I had given everyone a copy of the schedule for the day so that everyone knew when and where they should be. This meant there was no confusion and we could stay on time.
I'm really pleased that I managed to find such a great photographer last minute. Ben was really good at direction and gave some interesting ideas which I think worked well with Alex's and they made a good team.
I was really pleased with my hairstyling skills that I practised over the weekend. Having done it before it just meant that I could apply the same style to each of the girls without any trouble.
My friend Jonjo was a great help during the photo-shoot as he helped with a lot of the lifting and moving of the set. Because I was constantly dressing the models it meant that I had one less thing to worry about.
Because I did the hair styling myself it was easy for me to fix the hair when it fell out, however next time I will defiantly look to having make-up and hair stylists on board when doing such a big shoot as it did take up time as I had to style at the same time.
We had quite a few problems with Elise's shoes falling off but managed to fix this but stuffing them with cotton wool.
Anushka was a real help when coming to fix the costumes, because they had been made meant that sometimes they came un-done or needed re-pinning. It was very helpful having someone who had the skills of costume work to be on hand for any problems.
We ended the day by the last run from the house which was really amusing to watch and looks really great on camera. I videoed it on my digital camera to document.
