The Grand Tour

For this project I wrote a list of things that I like to give me a basis of ideas to start my project from.

These are a few of the words I wrote down:

Travelling

Collecting Arifacts

Historical Reference

Museums

Antiques

Period Houses

Cruise Liners

Taking these words I then looked into what would combine them all together and felt that the Grand Tour would be an interesting way to combine my interests.

For my negotiated studies I would like to look into the Grand Tour as a starting point and explore the luxurious way the aristocrats used to travel. I also want to bring in the Great Exhibition and how museums were set up to show artefacts gathered from afar. On this starting point I hope to develop a photo spread showing a stylish way to travel which I feel the British nation has lost. I also want to develop film again collaborating with film students and photography students incorporating this theme.

As a separate project alongside the Negotiated studies brief I would still like to help the winning River Island team and help out with the dressing up box as planned in our previous communication meeting.

As a way of combining the two projects I could have a screen installed showing the film I had created as a ‘look’ for style.
